Course Overview & Learning Outcomes
In today’s digital-first economy, every employee plays a role in securing the value of digital business services. Cybersecurity is not just an IT problem—it is a strategic and cultural imperative.
This foundational program is the first in the DVMS Professional® training series, preparing participants to understand digital business risk and the shared responsibility of protecting organisational value. Key takeaways include;
- Digital evolution is both an opportunity and a source of risk.
- Cybersecurity must be reframed as a business enabler.
- The NIST Cybersecurity Framework provides a common language for resilience.
- Culture, leadership, and practice—not technology alone—drive organisational protection of digital value.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Explain what it means to “become digital” and how digital evolution increases risk.
- Recognise the components of cyber risk—threats, vulnerabilities, assets, and controls.
- Understand the basics of risk assessment and the role of frameworks like NIST CSF.
- Describe how cybersecurity enables business value rather than restricts it.

An amazing instructor who explained the content very clearly and at a very good pace. This was a good balance and approach. I found the worked examples very practical and very relatable to the Defence industry sector I work in.
Really good facilitation, kept me interested and shared so many practical applications.

The instructor was very professional and was able to explain each area thoroughly and is available for Q&A.
Learnt a lot that we can implement or improve on in our organisation. The presenter was clear, precise and could relate difficult concepts into language and scenarios we could relate to. Everyone came away from the course feeling that had learnt something valuable.
