What does DevOps training cover?

DevOps brings development, IT operations and business teams closer together, with a focus on collaboration, integration, communication and continuous improvement. 

The DevOps Foundation course covers the core concepts of DevOps, along with current topics including AIOps, DevSecOps, Value Stream Management, Platform Engineering, and Generative AI.

The Phoenix Project is a little different. Instead of learning through a traditional classroom, participants work through a realistic business scenario, taking on different roles and dealing with projects, competing priorities, and operational challenges as a team.

Two ways to learn DevOps

ITSM Hub currently offers two DevOps learning experiences, depending on what you want to get out of your training:

1. DevOps Foundation® Course & Examination
   An introduction to DevOps principles, practices, and terminology. It gives individuals and teams a shared foundation in DevOps while preparing them for the DevOps Foundation® examination.

2. The Phoenix Project: DevOps in Action
   A team-based simulation that lets participants put DevOps principles into action, with an emphasis on problem-solving and making decisions together.

How is DevOps training delivered?

ITSM Hub provides a comprehensive approach to training, with delivery available online or at one of our training centres. Organisations can also arrange private sessions virtually or onsite, with dates, locations, and content specific to their needs.

DevOps Foundation® practical details

• Duration: 2 days

• Prerequisites: None. Familiarity with IT terminology and IT-related work experience are recommended.

• Exam: Included. The online, open-book exam has 40 multiple-choice questions, lasts 60 minutes and requires a 65% pass mark.

• Certification: Successful candidates receive DevOps Foundation® certification through PeopleCert.

The Phoenix Project simulation

The Phoenix Project is a one-day business simulation. There are no prerequisites or exams, and it can be delivered virtually or onsite.

The simulation is designed for people working across software development, IT operations, and IT service management. By working through a shared scenario, participants can explore how teams communicate and deal with the challenges that arise between development and operations.
